State of Nature - Activity-based BSA Radius
Unless you have set a custom radius for a particular site, Biodiversity Importance is determined using an activity-based radius ranging from 1 to 50 km. If activity data is unavailable, a default radius of 5 km is applied. If a site conducts multiple activities, the largest applicable radius is used. Sites located within a biodiversity-important area based on the specified radius are assigned a Concern Level of Low or higher, depending on their proximity.
The categorization of activities that determine the applicable radius is based on the 271 ISIC activities covered in the ENCORE knowledge base. The definition of activity-specific radii is informed by guidance from different sources (IBAT, UNEP WCMC 1, UNEP WCMC 2, EFRAG and the ENCORE pressure estimates). The activity-based radius applied to a given site is displayed within the platform.
